A three-day retreat for Activists working on Minority group issues in Ghana is underway at Dodowa in the Dangbe West District of the Greater Accra region.
The retreat is part of the implementation of the engaging media and minorities to act for peace building programme which seeks to address issues concerning exclusion and discrimination of minorities and indigenous communities, migrants, internally displaced persons, and refugees.
In Ghana, Minority and indigenous communities, characterisation is greatly influenced by ethnicity, culture, occupation, ecology, and political affiliation.
Understanding and communicating Minority rights are essential for conflict prevention and resolution. The purpose of the three-day retreat sponsored by the European Union (EU) is to raise public awareness of the interconnections between conflict, migration, and minority exclusion to help build and consolidate sustainable peace in Ghana, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.
